We Welcome Quality Social, Downtown San Diego’s newest restaurant and much needed dive bar.  Quality Social had it’s grand opening debut today and is located in the former LG Steakhouse and EXY location at Sixth Avenue and F Street in the East Village ballpark neighborhood. 

Quality Social is described by it’s creators as a sophisticated dive bar concept.  The founder of Quality Social, Chris Dexter, is a Harvard graduate and former professional basketball player who has had experience opening nightclubs across the United States.  Chris values a grungy old dive bar as much as a trendy new nightclub. He is passionate about the Quality Social vision because it’s a high-style mix of high brow and low brow, but caters to the local downtown residents.

Quality Social – A Dive Bar Gone Metropolitain

The concept is born from blending all the favorite elements of a classic neighborhood bar with an elevated luxury to new standards.  Imagine Pabst Blue Ribbon can specials, oversized red vinyl booths and add in live art installations, American-European street food with 100% local ingredients and some other great ideas.

Quality Social isn’t trying to be a dive bar – it’s a playful mixture of all that we love about neighborhood dives, presented in a new Quality light with no detail spared.  Quality Social encompasses a 9000 sq/ft space and features a VIP room, a champagne parlor in the ladies room and a live art tableau. 

A live art tableau is a living entertainment display. Quality Social founder Chris Dexer explains with an example: “We might set up a table behind the glass in the wine cellar and have two models in lingerie playing a game of Battleship.”

With Boones Farm on the menu, a speakeasy in the back, a menu created by a Top Chef recruit who travels with salami in his suit case, a vintage photo booth on display and a champagne parlor in the see-through ladies bathroom, Quality Social invites you to embrace the deliberate contradictions and create your own experience.

The patrons of Quality Social are expected to be downtown residents from East Village condo buildings like M2i Condos, Alta San Diego, The Mark San Diego and Park Loft San Diego Condos.  We talked to a few EV locals and they were definitely excited to stop by Quality Social later this week.  Enjoy the atmosphere San Diego!
