Construction Underway on New Downtown Library
Construction unoficially started yesterday on the new Downtown San Diego Library located in the East Village Neighborhood. The vacant lot located between J St, 11th Avenue and Park Boulevard saw more action yesterday than it has seen in the last 2 years. A large semi truck showed up with a trailer and delivered a tractor. There were also dumptrucks, normal contractor type pickup trucks and survey equipment.
What are the East Village Neighbors saying?
Residents of Icon San Diego condos, Park Terrace Condos and Metrome Condos are very excited to see progress under way. A friend and resident of Metrome told me that they are very pleased because when they bought thier place a Metrome from the developer, they were led to believe that the entire neighborhood was going to be developed right away. Unfortunately with the economy, everything was put on hold for some time.
The new Thomas Jefferson School of Law campus and new downtown library are expected to bring more cafes and eateries to the area. This is just the beginning to what will lead the march of the future development of East Village.
