7/4 – Scripps Ranch Old Pros 10K, 2-mile Fun Run & Bike Rides | Miramar Ranch School parking lot, Scripps Ranch | 6:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Race starts at 7:00 am  |  Several running and cycling opportunities.

7/7 & 7/28 – Little Italy Summer Stickball League | Little Italy – India St. | 10:00 – 4:00 p.m. | A game of stickball will be played in Little Italy. It’s traditional origin is from Italy where youths play the game on neighborhood streets as a recreational sport. The game is played by opposing teams using sticks to maneuver a ball to opposite sides to score points.

7/12 – 7/14 – Annual LGBT Pride Parade, Rally & Festival| Balboa Park & Hillcrest | Ffestival including political rally, 5k run/walk, parade, entertainment and more. See website for dates, times & prices

7/13 – 10th Annual Bake at the Lake | Lake Hodges | 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. | Admission $10 – $15 | A 4-mile cross-country race on the trails of Lake Hodges benefiting Mission Vista High School Cross Country Teams

 7/13 – 7/14– Community Health & Fitness Expo | Saturday: Westfield Plaza Camino Real, Carlsbad; Sunday: Tamarack State Beach | Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Sunday 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | The Expo features shopping, music, seminars/workshops, and fun activities. Sunday’s Expo is in conjunction with the Carlsbad Triathlon.

7/13 – 7/14 – Christmas in July Artisan Fair | Mission San Luis Ray Parish, Oceanside | Sat & Sun 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. | Annual shopping extravaganza sponsored by the Old Mission Montessori School and the Mission San Luis Rey Parish. The Christmas in July fundraiser draws an estimated 20,000 people each year. Event will include artisan booths, farmer’s market, a rummage sale, bake sale, food court raffle, kid’s activity area and live entertainment.

7/13 – 7/14 & 7/20 – 7/21 – Annual World Championship Over-the-Line Tournament | Fiesta Island, Fiesta Island Rd, East Mission Bay | 7:30 a.m. – dusk | FREE | 60 years of adult rugged sandbox softball play: 1,200 teams, almost 2,400 games in 2 weekends

7/14 – San Diego Blood Bank 5K Walk/Run | Embarcadero Marina Park North | 8:00 a.m. | The San Diego Blood Bank is hosting a 5K running and walking event along a waterfront route near the downtown area. Get some healthy exercise and enjoy scenic views of San Diego Bay. Proceeds benefit the Blood Bank’s programs & services. Enjoy delicious food and visit the family fun zone with games for all ages.

7/14 – 2012 Carlsbad Triathlon | Tamarack State Beach, Carlsbad | 8:00 a.m. | Begins with an open-water ocean swim, followed by a bike course and finally a run along the Pacific Ocean.

7/17 – 9/4 – Del Mar Horse Races | Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar | Refer to the website for schedule & events | The track runs during the summer at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and can stable more than two thousand horses

7/18 – 7/21 – Comic Con International 2011 | San Diego Convention Center, 111 W Harbor Dr, San Diego | Refer to website for schedule | The largest comic book and pop culture event in the United States

7/20 – Annual Bay 2 Bay Rowing & Paddling Regatta | 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | An excursion race for kayaks, paddleboards, and outrigger canoes. The race begins in West Mission Bay at Santa Clara Point, around the Point Loma peninsula to NTC Park at Liberty Station. An awards ceremony will follow with lunch, displays, activities, and a beer garden. Cost: $45.

7/21 – nullnull | Chargers Training Facility, 4020 Murphy Canyon Rd | 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Join this 5K event that begins at the Chargers Training Facility and finishes at the 50-yard line in Qualcomm Stadium. The Kids 1K Fun Run will start and finish at Qualcomm Stadium. Presented by Kaiser Permanente. proceeds will benefit the Trish & Ryan Mathews Door of Hope Chest. See website for registration fees.
