Now that the economy is begining to stabalize, Amerians are feeling more comfortable buying a home than they have been in the past 5 years. Take a look at this graphic to see the breakdown.
So what does the average California home buyer look like and what was their home-buying process like? The California Association of REALTORS conducted a survey on 1,400 eligible respondents who closed escrow between September 1, 2012 and February 28, 2013. Here are some of the results what were found:
63% of buyers found their agent online
Percentage of female buyers: 53%
Average age of a California buyer: 38 years old
63% were a minority with a breakdown of: 28% Asian, 26% Hispanic, & 8% Black
Social media was used by 3/4 of buyers. Top social media serches were for: 1) buying tips, 2) neighborhood information, 3) to view their real estate agent’s facebook page
Amount of time investigating on their own before contacting agents: 7 months
Average downpayment amount: 25%
Percentage who used financing: 91%
