Piazza Familia- Little Italy, San Diego

In Italy, the Piazza is truly the center of public life.  The Little Italy Association of San Diego is always working and planning to make the Little Italy neighborhood a fabulous place for both residents and visitors alike.  The newest development being planned is the exciting Piazza Familia.

A delightful new public space or “Piazza Familia” is being planned for Little Italy and will be located on W. Date Street between India & Columbia Streets.

This new space will be permanently closed off to vehicular traffic, create a grande promenade with water treatments and be a lovely backdrop for the Little Italy Mercato as well as multiple other events throughout the year.

Sidewalk strollers will be able to sit at one of the tables, view the bay, and do some great people watching.  Demolition for this project is slated to begin in May of 2014.

Again, Little Italy grabs another high score in the “Best Places to live in downtown San Diego” contest.
