Whole Foods project in danger?

Whole Foods in the East Village? Real Estate development company Cisterra is trying to make that a reality. Along with a Ritz Carlton hotel, office space, parking, and a public open area, this project could be the crown jewel of the East Village. Unfortunately, the San Diego City Council has other plans. They have issued a continuance after the meeting to approve the project on November 9th, they will vote at the next meeting on December 8th.

Instead of allowing this project to get tossed in the garbage as a result of bureaucratic nonsense, it’s time for the public to let the City Council know that they want an iconic building and 5 star hotel in the East Village along with a much overdue Whole Foods in downtown.

The East Village Association created a flyer with a suggested email to send to your City Council Reps (Downtown rep is Todd Gloria). I didn’t see it early enough to get this blog written before the meeting last week, but with the continuance we have a little more than 2 weeks to get emails & letters sent and phone calls made.

For more information on the project, click here. The East Village Association flyer is available here.

Let’s put the East Village Neighborhood ahead of the special interest groups fighting to mandate conditions that will kill the the project!
