Electra San Diego Penthouse
A truly unique and inspired Downtown San Diego penthouse was listed this week. The marvel of this Electra penthouse is a combination of excellence in architecture and design.
The homeowner purchased two premier condos on Electra’s 26th floor prior to the building’s construction. The blank canvas provided over 2,700 square feet, with a 300 degree panorama of ocean, city and bay views. He called upon the building’s designer, Harold Pell, former president of the American Society of Interior Designers’ San Diego chapter to fulfill his dream.
Ultimate San Diego Penthouse
Limited only by the exterior walls and placement of one of the original kitchens (there is no sign of the second), the architecture and design team set out to create a home for comfortable living and entertaining. In its original design, the combined condominiums would have four bedrooms and 3 baths.
The condo now has one master suite. Another was converted to a state of the art media room, while yet another is being used as a quiet sitting room. There are 3 large patios, looking south, west and east. Walls and floors feature elegant wood, marble and fabric. A textural element exists throughout the space.
Technology is integrated throughout the home. Smart switches and remote controls provide “one touch” control for lights, blinds and sound throughout the home. Countless flat screens and monitors are found in nearly every room. For more photos click this link.
I’m a realtor not a designer
This is an exquisite condo that would have appeal anywhere in the world. It would be easy to envision an athlete or entertainer in Los Angeles creating a space like this. Architectural Digest would feature such a penthouse in New York. Perhaps in a European or Middle Eastern financial center.
In Downtown San Diego, at Electra, it is completely unexpected. It has been estimated that the investment in this San Diego penthouse is in the $3,000,000 range. It certainly couldn’t be duplicated at that price in any of these other locations.
It is currently listed at $2,195,000. A cost per square foot of $810 is not at all unusual for view condos in San Diego. This is definitely more than a typical “view condo.”
It really has to be seen to be believed. Call me to arrange a showing.
