JMI, former Padres owner, John Moore’s  development company, is really making moves lately with the headway of the highly anticipated Ballpark Village. The master-planned 24-block Ballpark District in downtown San Diego was approved by voters back in 1998 and was halted due to funding until it finally broke ground on April 17^th, 2015.

Located right next to Petco park, the development will feature a walkway mimicking New York City’s High Line Park. The entire $250 million project consists of 7.1 acres which was formerly the largest contiguous and underdeveloped land in downtown San Diego, but once completed, will represent more than $1.5 billion of additional construction activity in downtown San Diego.

The 3.0 million square feet of mixed-use residential, retail, hotel and office development will consist of:

• 439 high end residential units (apartment rentals) in a 37-story tower
• 274 residential units (rentals) in two mid-rise 6 and 7 story towers
• 45,000 square feet of retail space
• 12,000 square feet open air central plaza
• 1,600 proposed hotel rooms

Construction of Ballpark Village is projected to be completed in 2018.
