The New Central Library- Time Lapse
Downtown San Diego
San Diego is a Paradise in Progress and amongst the many exciting new developments, the New Central Library is at the top of the list.
Slated for completion in the summer of 2013, this iconic building is making some serious headway, and quickly taking shape.
The facility will set the bar for modern libraries, and will serve the community’s needs for literacy, information and knowledge in the 21st century.
The New Central Library will be physically connected to Balboa Park and its many cultural institutions through the Park-to-Bay Link, creating a cultural space that spans the city. The new Central Library will be located in the East Village at the base of the Park-to-Bay Link, a historic land-use plan first envisioned in 1909, that will connect the nation’s second-largest mass of cultural resources to the waterfront.
The following images have been taken over the past year to show the progress of this magnificent building designed by architect Rob Quigley.
