Lane Field Hotel Project
In the location where Downtown San Diego’s main commerce thoroughfare, Broadway, meets the San Diego Bay and the cruise-ship terminal on the western waterfront, we are about to see a substantial new development. There was just a ground breaking ceremony for a new hotel development located at Lane Field, the former home of the San Diego Padres.
New Waterfront Development in Downtown San Diego
The new $130 million, dual tower hotel project will rise approximately 200 feet and will include a 253 room Spring Hill Suites by Marriott as well as a 147 Room Residence Inn by Marriott. There is said to be a 5 story podium that encompasses most of the city block and then two narrow towers that rise approximately 150 ft from the podium structure.
The 5 story podium should include 23,000 sq/ft of ground floor restaurant and retail shop space, approximately 5600-6500 sq/ft of convention meeting space and at least 414 parking spaces. Hotel amenities are to include pool, spa, fitness room, business library and two restaurants.
The dual hotel development is going to be completed in 2 phases. The first phase is the northern half of the block and also includes a public park and plaza that is 1.6 acres in size located along the NE corner of W Broadway and Harbor Drive. The park is to be completed no later than January of 2015 according to the approval from the Port of San Diego.
The two hotels are expected to be opened in January of 2016
The limited partners for the real estate joint venture project are:
